Iran Denounces Israeli Knesset’s Move on West Bank Annexation

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran censured the Israeli regime’s Knesset move to pass a motion) that calls for the annexation of the West Bank and expansion of illegal settlements in the occupied territory.

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement strongly condemned the Israeli Knesset’s approval of the motion, viewing it as yet another manifestation of the Zionist regime’s expansionist and domineering nature.

“This move—coinciding with the ongoing genocide in Gaza and systematic human rights violations in the West Bank—further exposes the regime’s relentless pursuit of erasing Palestine as a land, nation, and independent identity. The Zionist regime recognizes no boundaries in its brutal agenda, blatantly disregarding UN resolutions and international law,” the statement said.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran urges all nations and international bodies to fulfill their legal, moral, and political obligations in supporting the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and liberating them from occupation and apartheid,” it added.

“Iran further warns that the inaction of the global community, particularly the UN Security Council, in halting Israel’s genocide and war crimes in Gaza and the West Bank, will only embolden the regime’s atrocities and escalate its lawless aggression across the region.”

The statement went on to urge all nations—especially regional and Islamic governments— to take immediate and decisive action to compel the Israeli regime and its supporters, particularly the United States, to stop the massacres, warmongering, and expansionist policies of the Zionist entity.

The Israeli Knesset on Wednesday approved a resolution rejecting the establishment of a Palestinian state. It argued that the establishment of a Palestinian state “will pose an existential danger to Israel”.

It later voted for the annexation of the occupied West Bank and the Jordan Valley. Israeli media reports said the non-binding motion was backed by 71 members of the 120-seat assembly against 13 votes.
