IRGC Frigate Attends Iran-Russia Caspian Drill

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A frigate of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has taken part in a joint maritime rescue and relief drill involving Iranian and Russian naval forces in the Caspian Sea.

The ‘Martyr Basir’ frigate of the IRGC Navy is participating in the joint exercise, codenamed CASAREX 2025.

The frigate is expected to play a leading role in the rescue and relief operations during the exercise.

The joint maritime drill kicked off on Monday and continues for three days.

The exercise is hosted by the northern fleet of the Iranian Navy under the theme “together for a safe and secure Caspian Sea”.

The drill is participated by the servicemen from the Iranian Navy, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Navy, the Law Enforcement Command of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the Navy of the Russian Federation. It will also include observers from the Republic of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.

The rescue and relief exercise is aimed at upgrading maritime security and safety and enhancing cooperation among the naval forces of the Caspian countries.
