Russian Vessel Enters Iranian Waters for Joint Drill

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A Russian military vessel arrived in the territorial waters of Iran in the Caspian Sea to take part in a joint maritime rescue and relief drill.

The Navy of the Russian Federation dispatched its SB738 vessel to the Iranian waters on Monday for the joint exercise, codenamed CASAREX 2025.

The Russian ship was given a welcome by the Iranian Navy’s northern fleet.

The joint maritime rescue and relief drill will kick off today and continue for three days.

The exercise is hosted by the northern fleet of the Iranian Navy under the theme “together for a safe and secure Caspian Sea”.

The drill is participated by the servicemen from the Iranian Navy, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Navy, the Law Enforcement Command of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the Navy of the Russian Federation. It will also include observers from a number of Caspian Sea littoral states.

The rescue and relief exercise will be aimed at upgrading maritime security and safety and enhancing cooperation among the naval forces of the Caspian countries.
