Iraqi Sports Minister Offers Condolences to Iranians

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iraq’s Minister of Youth and Sports Ahmad Al-Mubarqa sent an official message of condolences to Iran following the recent Israeli attacks that resulted in the martyrdom of several Iranian athletes.

Al-Mubarqa reaffirmed Iraq’s solidarity with the families of the martyrs and with his Iranian counterpart Ahmad Donyamali.

"With deepest sorrow and regret, we extend our condolences to the people of Iran and to Mr. Ahmad Donyamali, Iran’s Minister of Youth and Sports, for the martyrdom of a number of distinguished athletes in the wake of the aggressive actions by the Israeli regime," the Iraqi minister said in the message.

"We pray to Allah Almighty for mercy and forgiveness for the martyrs, swift recovery for the wounded, and dignity and pride for Muslims and the Islamic world," he added.

The Zionist regime waged an unprovoked war of aggression against Iran on June 13. It carried out airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear, military and residential sites that resulted in the martyrdom of over 600 people, including top military commanders, nuclear scientists and ordinary citizens.
