FM: Iran Ready to Broaden Ties with Europeans
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi expressed Iran’s readiness to expand relations with European countries, including Italy, on the basis of mutual respect.
Araqchi on Sunday held a meeting with Acting Deputy of Italy’s Foreign Ministry Riccardo Guariglia, who has traveled to Tehran to attend the fifth round of political consultations between Iran and Italy.
In the meeting, Araqchi referred to the longstanding and friendly relations between Iran and Italy in the political, economic, and cultural spheres, and reiterated Iran’s readiness to expand and deepen relations with various European countries, especially Italy, on the basis of mutual respect and shared interests.
He also underlined the importance of regular and continuous political consultations between Iran and Italy, noting that such exchanges can enhance mutual understanding of each other’s positions and contribute meaningfully to the development of bilateral ties and the promotion of regional and international stability and security, the ministry’s website reported.
For his part, Guariglia expressed satisfaction with the visit to Iran, conveying the greetings of Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani to Araqchi.
He also expressed contentment with the constructive and fruitful discussions held with Iran’s deputy foreign minister for political affairs, and emphasized Italy’s interest in deepening and expanding relations with Tehran based on shared and reciprocal interests.
