US Proposal Makes No Mention of Sanctions Removal: Iran’s Qalibaf
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A recent proposal that the US has put forward for a nuclear deal with Iran has made no mention of the removal of sanctions against Tehran, laying bare Washington’s paradoxical and insincere attitudes, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said.
Addressing a Sunday session of the Parliament, Qalibaf outlined the necessary conditions for an ultimate agreement on Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.
He said the “delusional president of the United States” must abandon his attitude of imposition, stop siding with the Zionist regime, and cease supporting the Israeli prime minister’s failed policies if he is truly seeking a concrete deal.
Qalibaf said a recent proposal that the US relayed via Oman has made no mention of the removal of sanctions, which indicates Washington’s contradictory and insincere behavior.
Iran is prepared, in accordance with the parliamentary law on strategic action for lifting of the sanctions and safeguarding national interests, for confidence-building measures about the peacefulness of its nuclear program in exchange for the removal of sanctions and gaining economic benefits by maintaining uranium enrichment activities on its soil, he stated.
Qalibaf stressed that the only way to achieve an agreement is reliance on domestic capabilities and exerting reverse pressure to strike a genuine win-win deal.
Iran and the US have held five rounds of talks since April 12, mediated by Oman, with the purpose of reaching a deal on Iran’s nuclear program and the removal of sanctions on Tehran.
