Iran Lauds Oman’s Mediation in US Talks

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – In a meeting with Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian praised the sultanate for its constructive role in the indirect nuclear negotiations between Tehran and Washington.

At the meeting, held during an official visit to Muscat on Tuesday, Pezeshkian expressed hope that the Omani-mediated talks would yield positive results.

The president further noted that Iran and Oman possess capabilities that can be harnessed for the welfare and progress of both nations and the other regional countries, according to his website.

Pezeshkian emphasized that the two countries can enhance cooperation in the financial, scientific, educational, technological, and medical sectors.

He also encouraged the traders and industrialists from the two nations to propose programs for future generations and long-term economic collaboration.

Pezeshkian highlighted the necessity of facilitating economic and trade exchanges and expanding cooperation in defense and security areas.

Referring to Oman’s strategic position in Iran’s foreign policy, he stated that the Islamic Republic fully trusts Oman, which increases the responsibility of both sides to strengthen ties and pursue the implementation of agreements seriously.

Iran is prepared to do whatever it can to elevate the dignity and greatness of Muslim nations, Pezeshkian asserted, arguing that if these capabilities are utilized, no foreign power will be able to dominate the Islamic countries.

Furthermore, the president commended Oman’s support for the oppressed people of Palestine, particularly the residents of the Gaza Strip.

In response, the Omani Sultan welcomed Pezeshkian and his accompanying delegation to Muscat, expressing readiness to facilitate bilateral trade to enhance mutual ties between the two countries.

He also called for the development of cooperation between Iranian and Omani ports, noting the importance of Iran’s North-South Transport Corridor for trade.

The Sultan of Oman also advocated for expanding collaboration in the energy and military sectors between his country and Iran.
