Nuclear Chief: Iran Won’t Be Dictated to by Others

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran is moving ahead according to its national interests without being told what to do by outsiders, Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Mohammad Eslami stressed.

“We make decisions and move on according to our goals and national interests,” Eslami said in an event held in Tehran on Saturday in commemoration of late Iranian president Ebrahim Raisi and foreign minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, who were martyred in a helicopter crash in May 2024.

The AEOI chief underlined that others can never dictate to Iran.

What defines Iran’s path and contributes to national solidarity are its identity and values, he added.

Eslami described Iran’s nuclear industry as an undeniable fact, saying the Islamic Republic has been able to reach global levels despite all obstructions and to move in the course of progress in spite of all sanctions.

It is difficult for the world’s developed countries to see that Iran has caught up with them in the nuclear industry, he stated.

In remark on May 20, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei made it clear that Iran will not seek permission from anybody for uranium enrichment.

Pointing to the indirect nuclear talks between Iran and the US, Ayatollah Khamenei said, “For the Americans to say, ‘We won’t allow Iran to enrich uranium,’ is utter nonsense. We aren’t waiting for anyone’s permission. The Islamic Republic has certain policies, and it will pursue them.”

Iran and the US have held five rounds of talks since April 12, mediated by Oman, with the purpose of reaching a deal on Iran’s nuclear program and the removal of sanctions on Tehran.
