Iran Self-Sufficient in Naval Industry: Minister
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Defense Minister Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh said Iran has attained self-sufficiency in manufacturing all types of naval watercraft.
The Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran in a ceremony on Saturday took delivery of 13 vessels manufactured by the Marine Industries Organization of the Defense Ministry.
The vessels with various applications joined the fleet of the Ports and Maritime Organization in the southwestern province of Khuzestan.
Addressing the event, Defense Minister Brigadier General Nasirzadeh said Iran has become fully self-sufficient in manufacturing all types of watercraft, from vessels to submarines.
The new products consist of four tugboats, each with 1,800 horsepower, and nine large rigid inflatable boats (RIBs) designed for search and rescue operations.
Iranian experts have made significant advancements in indigenous military technology, achieving self-sufficiency in various defense sectors. Officials have repeatedly stated that Iran will not compromise on its military capabilities, particularly its missile program, which is strictly defensive.
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has repeatedly called for efforts to maintain and boost Iran’s military capabilities, decrying enemies for questioning the country’s defense program.
