Venezuela Suspends Flights to, from Colombia over Bomb Plot

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Venezuela suspended all flights to and from Colombia after authorities said they have uncovered a plot to smuggle explosives into the country via Colombian airports on Monday.

Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello said the move is in response to an uncovered destabilization plan that included bombing foreign embassies, police stations and healthcare facilities in Venezuela, Xinhua reported.

"We have decided to immediately suspend all air traffic between Venezuela and Colombia," Cabello said, adding that the move is a security measure to prevent further infiltration.

The minister said that the plot aims to disrupt the national and regional legislative elections scheduled for May 25.
