TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the expansion of relations with the regional and neighboring countries.

The Iranian president on Sunday held separate meetings with several foreign dignitaries that have visited Iran to take part in Tehran Dialogue Forum.

In a meeting with Afghanistan’s acting foreign minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, Pezeshkian expressed Iran’s readiness to promote cooperation with Afghanistan in an “environment of understanding” in order to resolve the existing issues between the two countries.

He noted that Iran considers a duty to assist the people of Afghanistan based on the religious principles, adding that Iran is ready to develop cooperation with Afghanistan in different fields.

In another meeting with President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq Nechirvan Barzani, Pezeshkian said Iran regards the Iraqi Kurdistan Region as a brotherly neighbor. He emphasized that the two sides can undertake significant initiatives to promote regional development through cooperation and interaction.

In talks at a meeting with Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan, the president said Iran has extended a hand of friendship to all of its neighboring countries, and is making efforts to deepen ties with them based on cultural, historical and human commonalities.

Pezeshkian also held a meeting with Tajikistan’s Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin.

The president stated that the relations between Tehran and Dushanbe are at an excellent level, and grounds are already prepared for the expansion of bilateral cooperation in trade, economy, science, politics, and security.

In another meeting with Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, President Pezeshkian stated that the path to an agreement with the US will be open if Washington avoids a bullying attitude in the indirect talks on Iran’s nuclear program and the lifting of sanctions.

He also expressed hope that the agreements between Tehran and Doha would be implemented swiftly, benefiting both nations.

In comments at a meeting with SCO Secretary General Nurlan Yermekbayev, the Iranian president emphasized the necessity of establishing a joint financial institution within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Pezeshkian also held talks with Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi.

The president expressed hope that the indirect negotiations between Iran and the US would lead to a fair agreement guaranteeing sustainable stability in the West Asia region.

“We hope that through the sincere and genuine efforts and intentions of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, these talks will lead to a just agreement that ensures lasting peace and stability in the region,” Pezeshkian said, his official website reported.

He noted that Iran is ready to expand cooperation with the Islamic countries, especially the “brotherly and friendly country of Oman,” in all fields including trade, politics, economy, science, and technology.

Pezeshkian also said that his upcoming trip to Oman will serve as a turning point in deepening relations between the two sides.

The Iranian president is scheduled to visit Oman next week.
