Iran Won’t Give Up Nuclear Rights: President

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Reaffirming Iran’s right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes, President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized that Tehran will never seek nukes.

In comments at Tehran Dialogue Forum on Sunday, Pezeshkian said the US must acknowledge Iran’s nuclear rights under the international treaties.

According to the Non-Proliferation Teary (NPT), Iran is entitled to use nuclear technology for research, health, agriculture and industry, he stated, emphasizing that nobody can deprive Iran of science and development.

Reasserting Iran’s position on the prohibition of nuclear weapons in accordance with the guidelines provided by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, the president said, “We are not supposed to make a nuclear bomb. They (Americans) tell the region that we are moving towards (nuclear) weapons, but this is not true.”

Pointing to his US counterpart’s insistence that Iran should not gain nuclear weapons, President Pezeshkian said they can verify that process however they want to.

Iran will never cave in to force and will by no means abandon its peaceful nuclear program, the president underlined.

Hitting back at the US president for accusing Iran of destabilizing the region, Pezeshkian said it is the US that speaks of peace but kills people and provides countries with arms to make them plunder each other’s resources across the region.

Pezeshkian reiterated that Iran favors fraternity and cooperation with its neighbors.
