Iran Urges Armenia-Azerbaijan Peace Deal
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi called for the swift conclusion of a long-awaited peace treaty between Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Araqchi and Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan held a meeting in Tehran on Saturday, May 17.
The foreign minister highlighted Iran’s amicable relations with Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, saying Tehran urges accelerated efforts to finalize a peace agreement between the two countries.
Araqchi said the peace deal between Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan will ensure stability and sustainable security in the region and contribute to regional progress and development.
He promised that Iran would spare no effort to help expedite the process of signing the peace treaty and its implementation.
For his part, Grigoryan gave a report on the latest developments in his country’s negotiations on the peace agreement with the Republic of Azerbaijan.
He also praised Iran for supporting Armenia’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity and also the efforts at peace between Yerevan and Baku.
Grigoryan then reaffirmed Armenia’s resolve to enhance relations with Iran in various fields, specifically economic cooperation.
The senior Armenian security official has traveled to Iran to take part in the Tehran Dialogue Forum.
