Presidents Weigh Plans to Strengthen Iran-Russia Ties

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The presidents of Iran and Russia called for efforts to broaden strategic interaction between the two countries and implement their comprehensive cooperation agreement.

In a telephone conversation on Tuesday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin discussed the bilateral relations as well as the regional and international developments.

The two presidents expressed satisfaction with the constructive and friendly interaction between Iran and Russia, hailing the positive trend in the joint projects, particularly in the monetary and banking cooperation, as well as rail and road transportation and energy sectors.

They also viewed the conclusion of Iran-Russia Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership as a significant milestone that reflects the depth of ties between Tehran and Moscow and marks a turning point in strengthening political, economic, trade, and security cooperation.

They reaffirmed their commitment to the full implementation of the agreement.

Putin expressed hope for the success of the indirect nuclear talks between Iran and the US, voicing Russia's readiness to provide technical assistance if needed, the Iranian president’s website reported.

The Russian president also extended condolences to the Iranian government and people over a recent tragic explosion at the Shahid Rajaei Port in southern Iran.

In response, Pezeshkian expressed gratitude to Russia for its sympathy and the supports in extinguishing a fire at the port.
