Iranian General Urges Extension of Lebanon Ceasefire to Gaza

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A former commander of Iranian military advisors in Syria hailed the ceasefire in Lebanon as a victory for Hezbollah, stressing that a truce must take effect in the Gaza Strip as well.

In an interview with Tasnim on Wednesday, Deputy Commander of Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters Brigadier General Mohammad Jafar Asadi stressed the need for the cessation of the Israeli regime’s crimes in the region.

“The ceasefire in Lebanon marked a victory for Hezbollah, and this ceasefire should become operational in Gaza too,” he said.

The IRGC general emphasized that the Zionist regime ought to stop its onslaught on Gaza and withdraw from the Palestinian enclave, warning that the continuation of the Israeli atrocities will force the resistance front to have presence in the battlefield.

“The resistance front is pursuing a halt to the Zionist regime’s crimes in Gaza, is following it up strongly, and expects the Lebanon ceasefire to become operational in Gaza too as soon as possible,” he stated.

He noted that Iran welcomes and supports the ceasefire deal in Lebanon although it was not a hundred percent favorable, saying the truce translates to victory for the Lebanese resistance and a big defeat for the Zionist regime.
