Israel Launches Massive Air Raid on Beirut’s Suburb

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Dozens of loud explosions were heard in the Mrayjeh area in the southern suburb of Beirut, just past midnight on Friday, due to an Israeli air raid.

Residents of Sidon and Tyre in southern Lebanon heard the loud explosions, which speaks to the magnitude of the strikes launched by Israeli warplanes, Al Mayadeen reported.

The targeted site is in close proximity to the Beirut International Airport, which can be seen in the background of circulating footage of the strikes.

The target area is a heavily populated residential area in Lebanon. Al Mayadeen's correspondent said that residential areas suffered extensive damage as a result of the Israeli strikes.

Several other strikes targeted different neighborhoods in the suburb, including a residential area near a school in the Hadath area.

Lebanon’s Health Ministry said at least 37 people have been killed, and over 150 were injured in the Israeli strikes.

The Zionist regime has reportedly used powerful bunker-buster bombs in its latest attacks, whose number was more than a dozen.

According to Israeli media, the assassination of Hashem Safieddine, head of Hezbollah's Executive Council, was the main objective of the regime’s attacks, Press TV reported.

Israel’s strikes also targeted several other locations, including Hezbollah’s media relations office and a warehouse near the Beirut airport.

A source close to Hezbollah said Israel had conducted 11 consecutive strikes in south Beirut on Thursday night.
