Pezeshkian Holds High-Profile Talks in Iraqi Kurdistan Region
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian paid an official visit to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq on Thursday and held talks with the autonomous region’s top officials.
During the second day of his state visit to Iraq, the Iranian president arrived in Erbil on Thursday.
The Iranian president and his entourage attended a meeting with the KRG authorities, led by President of Kurdistan Region Nechervan Barzani.
Pezeshkian then had a meeting with Masoud Barzani, the leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the former KRG president.
The Iranian president held talks with the Iraqi president and prime minister in Baghdad on Wednesday before signing 14 cooperation documents with the neighboring state.
He also visited the holy shrines of two Shiite imams in Al-Kadhimiyya Mosque in Baghdad on Wednesday night.
The Iranian president has described cooperation for regional development as the guiding principle of his administration’s foreign policy.
