Hezbollah Attacks Israeli Military Installations After Airstrikes Target Southern Lebanon

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Lebanese Hezbollah resistance forces launched a barrage of rockets and drones targeting multiple Israeli military sites, including a vital air surveillance base on Mount Meron, in retaliation for Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon.

Dozens of missiles struck Mount Meron, the highest summit in Israeli-occupied territory outside the Golan Heights, late Saturday night, according to videos circulating online.

But as usual, the Times of Israel and Jerusalem Post reported that all of the rockets were "either intercepted or fell in open areas," with no damage or casualties reported.

In a statement issued early Sunday, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the strike, citing Israeli assaults on southern Lebanese villages and civilian residences as the impetus. The Lebanese resistance group stated it aimed Katyusha rockets at the "Meron settlement and surrounding settlements."

Additionally, Hezbollah disclosed launching a sophisticated assault involving explosive drones and guided missiles on the Al Manara military command headquarters and a gathering of forces from the Golani Brigade's 51st Battalion earlier that Saturday.

The Israeli air force had conducted airstrikes in Al-Quzah, Markaba, and Sarbin in southern Lebanon on Saturday, preceded by strikes in Kfarkela and Kfarchouba on Friday. These assaults resulted in the deaths of at least three individuals, with an additional 11, including Syrian nationals, sustaining injuries, as reported by Lebanese media.

Since the Israeli war on Gaza began in early October of last year, the Lebanese resistance group has repeatedly targeted the occupied territories.

On multiple occasions, Israel's crucial air surveillance post on Mount Meron was attacked. Hezbollah previously described the installation as "the sole center for administration, monitoring, and air control in the north of the usurping entity," without which the Israeli regime would have "no viable alternative."
