Two Palestinian Wounded As Settlers Storm Reservoir in West Bank

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Two Palestinians were injured after a group of settlers, accompanied by Israeli forces, invaded an ancient reservoir known as the Carmel Pool, located south of Hebron (Al-Khalil) in the occupied West Bank.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) said it transferred two wounded individuals to a hospital near the Jalama Israeli army checkpoint, situated north of Jenin in the occupied West Bank, according to an Al Jazeera.

This event is the latest in a series of incursions by settlers into archaeological sites and water springs across Palestinian territory, occurring during the Jewish Passover holiday.

Concurrently, reports have surfaced suggesting that the Biden administration has deferred sanctions against the ultra-Orthodox battalion by the Biden administration, following days of speculation over Washington's intentions to penalize the battalion for rights abuses in the occupied West Bank.

Netzah Yehuda soldiers were implicated in the death of Omar Assad, a 78-year-old Palestinian-American who suffered a fatal heart attack in 2022 after being detained, bound, and gagged.

While US laws prohibit military assistance to entities or individuals involved in severe human rights violations, such measures have not previously been applied to Israel.

According to US-based ABC News, despite acknowledgment of violations by the unit from the State Department, Secretary of State Antony Blinken assured a congressional leader that military aid deliveries to Israel would remain unaffected.
