International Outcry Mounts over Israeli Atrocities in Gaza

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Palestinian Authority issued a call for “strong international sanctions against the colonizing militias and the entire colonial system,” citing an escalation in settler violence, including live ammunition firing, home torching, attacks on individuals, and land confiscation.

In a statement, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry said the purpose of this escalation is to solidify Israel’s control over Palestinian territory, deemed a direct challenge to international law and an extension of a racist colonial mindset fueling conflict.

Meanwhile, on the US Senate floor, Chris Van Hollen, a Democrat from Maryland, accused Israel of war crimes in Gaza, specifically pointing to the deliberate withholding of food, which he labeled as “textbook war crimes.” He emphasized the need for the United States, particularly President Biden, to take action in response to the situation, demanding increased aid access to Gaza and threatening to cut off aid to Israel if not granted.

Pakistani Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani condemned Israel’s bombing of Rafah as a “deplorable and a grave violation of international law and human rights,” urging an immediate ceasefire and warning against looking away from the crisis.

China joined the chorus of international concern, urging Israel to halt its military operation in Rafah to prevent a “serious humanitarian disaster” for the 1.4 million people seeking refuge in the city. The Foreign Ministry spokesperson emphasized China’s opposition to actions harming civilians and violating international law.

In the ongoing conflict, Gaza’s Health Ministry reported a death toll of 28,473 Palestinians since October 7, including over 12,300 children and approximately 8,400 women. With more than 68,146 wounded, including 8,663 children and 6,327 women, over 11,000 are critically in need of evacuation, according to the ministry's data.
