Israeli Air Raid Claims Lives of Two More Journalists in Gaza: Monitoring Group
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Two more journalists were tragically killed in Gaza during an Israeli air attack overnight, as reported by the Palestinian press freedom group MADA to Al Jazeera.
Sari Mansour and Hassouneh Salim were actively working in the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza when they were struck, according to the group's statement.
The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has confirmed that the total count of journalists lost in this conflict has reached 42. Among these casualties, there are 39 Palestinians and a Lebanese journalist, as per CPJ's Saturday report.
This conflict has witnessed the highest number of journalist deaths in its initial month compared to any other conflict since CPJ began documenting statistics for journalists covering the region in 1992.
The situation in southern Gaza mirrors the severity in the north, with ongoing Israeli bombardment targeting the southern areas of the Gaza Strip.
Approximately 31 Palestinians have lost their lives in separate strikes, including those at the Nuseirat refugee camp and another location.
Moreover, residential structures in Khan Younis have been destroyed, and the recent assault at the European hospital resulted in the deaths of two Palestinians, leaving several others injured.
The southern region of Gaza has been considered a safer haven, prompting many Palestinians to seek refuge there after fleeing from the north.
A collective letter signed by hundreds of international journalists accuses Western media outlets of biased coverage, leaning toward Israel and marginalizing the Palestinian narrative, alleging the dehumanization of Palestinians in news coverage.
