Iran Eyes Cooperation with Japan in Medical Industry
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign minister of Iran called for the participation of Japanese companies in Iran’s medical sector.
Hossein Amirabdollahian, who is on an official visit to Japan, held a meeting with Japanese Minister of Health, Labor, and Welfare Katsunobu Kato in Tokyo on Monday.
Highlighting the significance of political relations and mutual cultural respect between the two nations, Amirabdollahian lauded Japan for donating coronavirus vaccines to Iran after the outbreak of the pandemic.
He denounced the illegal and unilateral sanctions the US has imposed on Iran, calling for the promotion of cooperation between Tehran and Tokyo, especially the formation of a mechanism for the participation of Japanese companies in Iran’s pharmaceutical industry and medical equipment sector.
The foreign minister also expounded on Iran’s progress in new technologies and in the medical field.
For his part, Katsunobu hailed the Iranian foreign minister’s visit to Japan on the 78th anniversary of the American atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, reiterating the Japanese nation’s opposition to the weapons of mass destruction.
He also lauded Iran’s progress in modern medical technologies, stressing the importance of collaboration in the medical sectors.
The Japanese minister then expressed hope for the enhancement of cooperation considering the age-old and historical relations between the two countries.
