Iran, Syria Agree to Increase No. of Flights, Launch Direct Shipping Lines
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Senior officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Syrian Arab Republic on Friday agreed to increase the number of direct flights and launch shipping lines in order to boost trade and economic activities between the two countries.
Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mehrdad Bazrpash, who accompanied President Ebrahim Raisi in his two-day official visit to the Syrian capital of Damascus, held talks with Iranian traders and merchants at the venue of Iran-Syria Development Headquarters on Friday.
He said at the meeting that Iran and Syria have explored avenues for removing trade barriers facing Iranian economic activists in Syria.
The lack of a regular air route between Iran and Syria, lack of planning in importing and exporting goods between the two countries and also the need for launching weekly routine flights between Tehran and Damascus for businesspersons were of the main topics discussed at the meeting.
In this get-together, the Iranian roads minister was briefed on the latest situation of trade and economic relations between the two countries.
Bazrpash said that the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development will spare no efforts to help Iranian businesspersons cement political and trade ties with friendly countries and also develop a sea-based economy.
