Iran, Turkmenistan Ink 9 Documents, MoUs
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran and Turkmenistan signed nine documents and memoranda of understanding on cooperation in various fields at the conclusion of a high-profile meeting co-chaired by the presidents of the two states in Tehran.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedow, who is in Tehran for an official visit, co-chaired the joint meeting of high-ranking delegations with his Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Raisi on Wednesday morning.
At the conclusion of the meeting, ministers, provincial governors and authorities from the two countries signed nine cooperation documents and memoranda of understanding.
The documents entail trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation between various provinces of Iran and Turkmenistan, interaction between the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) and State Committee of Turkmenistan for Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography, programs for scientific, cultural, artistic and training exchanges between the two governments, formation of a task force on joint investment, promotion of transportation and transit cooperation, and joint efforts for environmental protection.
This is the Turkmen president’s first visit to Iran after taking office in March.
Serdar Berdimuhamedow, 40, secured nearly 73 percent of votes in March election to lead the gas-rich country and succeed his father Gurbanguly.
Iran and Turkmenistan are celebrating the 30th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic ties.
