Ali Daei Denies Syria Link
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian football coach Ali Daei has dismissed reports claiming he has negotiated with Syria Football Federation to take charge of the West Asian team.
Media reports have suggested that the Syrian federation is going to hire Daei as Nizar Mahrous’s replacement but the former Bayern Munich forward denied the speculation.
Daei is without a team since parting company with Saipa football club in 2019.
The former Iran striker led Iran national football team from 2008 to 2009.
Syria has a difficult task ahead to book a place in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The Qasioun has just two pints in Group A.
Iran and South Korea are first and second respectively with 16 and 14 points.
