Iran Eyes Rise in Non-Oil Exports to Neighbors: Zarif
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif described a growth in the country’s export of non-oil products, including technical and engineering services, as a main purpose of his tour of regional countries, which has taken him to Turkmenistan.
Speaking to reporters upon his arrival in Ashgabat on Sunday night, Zarif said plans have been formulated to boost non-oil exports to the neighboring countries, pointing to a delegation of business people from Iran’s private and state-run sectors accompanying him in the trip.
Zarif also highlighted the need for close regional cooperation to deal with the threat of extremism and terrorism.
On Monday morning, the top Iranian diplomat held a meeting with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow.
He will later attend a meeting of Turkmen merchants and business people.
Zarif will travel to Georgia and Kyrgyzstan after Turkmenistan.
