Iranian Deputy FM Holds Talks in Syria
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari met with top Syrian officials in Damascus in a trip that will take him later to Lebanon.
Heading a diplomatic delegation, Jaberi Ansari arrived in Damascus on Wednesday and had separate meetings with Syrian Prime Minister Imad Khamis and Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad.
The Iranian diplomat is scheduled to meet with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Foreign Minister Walid Muallem, and participate in a meeting of Iran-Syria joint political committee.
He will later fly to Lebanon for an official visit. Syria and Lebanon are two major partners of Iran in the region.
