Iranian Minister, Afghan Officials to Discuss Promotion of Tehran-Kabul Ties
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Interior Minister on Thursday said he will confer with Afghan officials during his trip to the neighboring country on how Tehran and Kabul can work together and develop the bilateral relations.
Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli told reporters upon his arrival at Kabul Airport that he is in the Afghan capital to attend and address the 6th Regional Economic Cooperation Conference for Afghanistan (RECCA).
He further noted that he will also hold meetings with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah, and a number of Afghan ministers including economy, immigration, and counter narcotics ministers.
During the meetings, enhancing cooperation between Tehran and Kabul in different areas will be discussed, Rahmani Fazli stated.
RECCA is attended by high-ranking delegations from 30 countries and 40 international bodies, and focuses on the implementation of important economic plans in regional states.
Titled “The Silk Road through Afghanistan”, the two-day even, RECCA, started work on Thursday, September 3.
The 1st RECCA was held in Kabul in 2005, and the next editions were held in New Delhi, Islamabad, Istanbul, and Dushanbe.
