German Official Highlights Iran's Role in His Country's Energy Market
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – German Vice-Chancellor and Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Sigmar Gabriel described as significant the role Iran can play in supplying the European country's energy demands.
"Germany's economy needs raw materials," Gabriel said, adding that Iran can have a major share in supplying the energy Germany needs.
Gabriel, who is visiting the Iranian capital of Tehran at the head of a high-ranking delegation, made the remarks in a meeting with a number of Iranian officials on Monday morning.
He further expressed his country's willingness to cooperate with Iran in different economic and industrial sectors, but at the same time referred to obstacles to mutual cooperation.
"Cooperation of German banks is currently one of the main issues," Gabriel said, but expressed optimism that the barriers to the enhancement of ties would be removed.
The German official's remarks came as Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14 reached a conclusion over the text of a comprehensive 159-page deal on Tehran's nuclear program.
The text of the comprehensive nuclear deal between Iran and the six powers would terminate all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran after coming into force.
Experts believe that Iran's economic growth would rise remarkably after the final nuclear deal takes effect.
