No Talks with US on Building Refineries: Iran's Deputy Oil Minister

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An Iranian deputy oil minister on Saturday rejected some reports that Tehran and Washington have held talks on the joint construction of oil refineries.

"We have not been in talks with the US in this regard (jointly constructing refineries),"Abbas Kazemi said in an interview with the Tasnim News Agency.

He further said the Islamic Republic has had negotiations with Brazil and India to construct refineries in the two countries.

"Brazil has asked Iran to construct a refinery with a capacity of 300 barrels per day (bpd) with the joint investment of the two countries," Kazemi said.

He added that Iran will also provide the crude oil needed for the refinery in Brazil.

The deputy minister went on to say that India has also requested Iran to develop and upgrade the technology of its refineries and construct a refinery with a production capacity of 400 bpd.
