Iran Petrochemical Exports in 4 Months Hit $838mln

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The value of Iranian exports of petrochemical products in the first four months of the current Iranian year (March 21 - July 22) has reached $838 million, Iran Petrochemical Commercial Company (IPCC) announced on Tuesday.

According to a statement by the company, the exported products, weighing 831,000 tons, included mainly propane and butane.

After the two products, Styrene and p-xylene accounted for the largest share of petrochemical exports, followed by benzene, polyethylene, PET and other petrochemicals.

Iran’s production of petrochemicals has raised by more than five percent during the first four months of the Iranian year compared to the same period last year, Production Control Manager of National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Ali Mohammad Basaqzadeh stated in late July.

He said that the growth in the country’s petrochemical production was achieved after the phases 12, 15 and 16 of the massive South Pars gas field came on stream.

Basaqzadeh also said the petrochemical output is predicted to reach 48 million tons this year, if required feedstock is provided.

He said 100 million cubic meters (mcm) of natural gas will be produced at South Pars gas field which will in turn lead to more petrochemical production.
