Iran Petrochemical Output Increases by over 5%

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s petrochemical production has increased more than five percent during the first quarter of the current Iranian year, which began on March 21, compared to the same period last year, a senior official announced.

Economy

The growth in the country’s petrochemical production was achieved after the phases 12, 15 and 16 of the massive South Pars gas field came on stream, Production Control Manager of National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Ali Mohammad Basaqzadeh stated.

He emphasized that the production will further increase as long as more feedstock is supplied to the country’s petrochemical plants.

Basaqzadeh also said the petrochemical output is predicted to reach 48 million tons this year, if required feedstock is provided, Shana reported.

He said 100 million cubic meters (mcm) of natural gas will be produced at South Pars gas field which will in turn lead to more petrochemical production.
