Lawmaker Underlines Iran's Resolve to Preserve Energy Security
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Supplying energy to energy-thirsty countries is top on Iran's agenda, a senior Iranian lawmaker said, adding that Tehran is seeking to define a specific policy to ensure energy security.
“The issue of energy security is a very important issue about which the Islamic Republic of Iran enjoys special ideas,” Vice-Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Hassan Aboutorabifard said in a Tuesday meeting with chairman of a South Korean parliamentary commission Park Young-son here in Tehran.
"Iran's basic policy in the field of energy is to prepare grounds for the access of countries which are in need of energy (to energy resources) and achieve a single policy to ensure energy security," the lawmaker underlined.
He pointed to the growing relations between Tehran and Seoul, and said the energy can be one of the major cooperation fields between the two Asian countries in the coming years.
He also commented on Iran’s nuclear program and blasted the double-standard policies adopted by world powers regarding the program, and asserted that Iran strongly favors nuclear disarmament.
During the meeting, the Korean lawmaker expressed the hope that the trade and economic cooperation between Tehran and Seoul would witness eye-catching growth as soon as sanctions against Iran are lifted.
