Addressing a meeting in the western city of Hamedan on Thursday, Esmaeil Khatib said the “enemy and the system of global arrogance” used their latest technological, intelligence, and military capabilities in a coordinated bid to damage Iran’s defense network and command centers during the war of aggression in June.
“They mobilized the full range of Western military achievements and resources to strike at our key bases and leadership, but they achieved no success,” he stated.
The minister explained that the adversaries aimed to design and impose a puppet government as Iran’s future administration while blocking diplomatic openings that could have benefited the country. “They worked to undermine hope and progress, and to obstruct potential agreements that could advance our diplomacy,” the minister added.
Khatib said the campaign extended beyond the battlefield, with enemies relying heavily on media manipulation and psychological operations to spread instability and confusion. “They sought to impose their narrative on Iranian public opinion and perception through disinformation and propaganda,” he said.
“In this hybrid war, the enemies also provoked Takfiri and Daesh militants from Syria and dispatched them toward Iran’s borders and southeastern regions to carry out assassinations, sabotage, and acts of terror. By the grace of God, their efforts failed,” Khatib noted.
The minister added that foreign plotters attempted to smuggle large quantities of weapons into Iran and exploited economic pressure and social grievances to trigger unrest. “They used money, incitement, dissatisfaction, distrust, labor protests, and social media mobilization to weaken the system and even to fragment the country,” he said. “But their seditious goals were defeated.”
Khatib concluded that the failure of these plots once again proved the strength and unity of the Iranian people and institutions.
