The visit follows AEOI Chief Mohammad Eslami’s recent trip to Moscow, where Iran and Russia signed two agreements on joint development of SMRs and on Iran-Hormuz Nuclear Power Plant Project, which includes four 1,250-megawatt reactors valued at over 25 billion dollars.
Iranian officials described these projects as strategically and economically significant, highlighting their role in strengthening bilateral cooperation in peaceful nuclear energy.
During the meetings in Tehran, the Russian delegation, led by Rosatom Deputy CEO for International Relations Nikolay Spassky, held extensive discussions with Iranian nuclear authorities on SMR technology, design and construction of high-capacity power reactors, and the implementation of advanced nuclear projects.
Spassky also met with Eslami to review the current projects and discuss future collaboration. According to plans, Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev will visit Iran soon to follow up on agreements and monitor progress on Units 2 and 3 of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant.
