Hamas said the reports were part of a coordinated propaganda effort to weaken Palestinian resistance and distort the movement’s position.
Media outlets had earlier claimed that Hamas agreed to transfer its weapons to a Palestinian-Egyptian committee under international supervision.
“We categorically deny the fabricated allegations published by several media outlets about the course of the ceasefire negotiations and Hamas’ position on handing over weapons,” senior Hamas official Mahmoud Mardawi said in a statement.
He described the reports as “baseless” and intended to “mislead public opinion and distort Hamas’ stance.”
Mardawi urged journalists to verify information before publication and avoid “rumors promoted to serve the occupation’s narrative.”
Egypt is expected to host delegations from Hamas and Israel on Monday to discuss details of a prisoner exchange under the Trump administration’s Gaza plan.
On Sept. 29, US President Donald Trump unveiled a 20-point proposal that includes releasing Israeli captives and Palestinian prisoners, enforcing a ceasefire, disarming Hamas, and initiating Gaza’s reconstruction.
Hamas has said it agreed “in principle” to discuss the plan but rejected any clause that compromises its right to resist occupation.
Since October 2023, Israeli forces have killed more than 67,000 Palestinians in Gaza, mostly women and children.
The months-long assault has devastated the enclave, turning entire neighborhoods into rubble and leaving civilians facing starvation and disease under what Palestinians call a campaign of extermination.
