Araqchi on Sunday hosted the chairman and members of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission at the Foreign Ministry to brief them on the latest developments in the country’s foreign policy.
The minister outlined recent initiatives by the Foreign Ministry and explained the diplomatic efforts underway to safeguard Iran’s national interests.
He also reviewed the ministry’s activities over the past year, including in the nuclear field, strengthening relations with neighboring states, advancing South-South cooperation, utilizing multilateral organizations such as BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, pursuing active diplomacy against the Israeli regime’s warmongering and genocide, supporting Iranians abroad, and expanding economic diplomacy.
Araqchi further elaborated on the recent trip of President Masoud Pezeshkian to New York to attend the 80th session of the UN General Assembly. He presented a report on his own meetings and negotiations on the sidelines of the Assembly, particularly regarding the latest diplomatic efforts to counter the obstructive approach of the three European states and the US in misusing the JCPOA’s dispute resolution mechanism to reinstate previously lifted UN Security Council resolutions related to Iran’s nuclear program.
Araqchi stressed that the Foreign Ministry will continue its efforts, in consultation with like-minded countries, to safeguard the Iranian nation’s legitimate right to the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
