In a post on his X account on Saturday night, Esmaeil Baqaei urged the international community to end the Zionist regime’s “barbaric lawlessness” and to hold its leaders accountable.
“A month after the fact, the US media confirm what everyone knew: 'Netanyahu ordered drone attacks on Gaza-bound humanitarian aid boats off Tunisia', as reported by CBS News,” he said.
“This is simply yet another demonstration of the Israeli regime's absolute contempt for sovereignty of other States, for international law and for human life and dignity,” the Iranian spokesman added.
“The world must stop this barbaric lawlessness, end impunity for genocidal war criminals and hold their apologists accountable,” he stated.
In a report on October 3, CBS News revealed that Netanyahu directly approved military operations on two vessels early last month that were part of a Gaza-bound flotilla carrying aid and pro-Palestinian supporters, including Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg.
Two American intelligence officials briefed on the matter told CBS News that Israeli forces on September 8 and 9 launched drones from a submarine and dropped incendiary devices onto the boats that were moored outside the Tunisian port of Sidi Bou Said, causing a fire.
Under international humanitarian law and the law of armed conflict, the use of incendiary weapons against a civilian population or civilian objects is prohibited in all circumstances.
