Iran’s Javan Bags Silver at 2025 World Wrestling Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian freestyler Ahmad Javan claimed a silver medal at the 2025 World Wrestling Championships on Sunday.

Javan lost to Zaur Uguev (UWW) 11-2 in the final bout of 61kg.

Kazakhstan’s Assylzhan Yessengeldi and Nuraddin Novruzov of Azerbaijan won bronze medals.

Javan started the campaign by defeating Ecuador’s Josh Kramer (13-2) in Round of 32. He defeated Novruzov (5-2) in Round of 16, as well as Ukraine’s Kamil Kerymov (8-4) in Quarterfinals, and North Korea’s Kim Kum-hyok (3-2) in Semifinals.

The 2025 World Wrestling Championships started on September 13 in Zagreb, Croatia and will run until September 21.
