Trump Threatens 25% Tariff on Apple Products Unless iPhones Are Made in US

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - US President Donald Trump on Friday warned that Apple could face a 25% import tariff on its products unless the company relocates iPhone manufacturing to the United States.

President Trump issued the threat via social media, signaling a move that could significantly raise the cost of iPhones and disrupt sales for one of the country’s most prominent technology companies.

Apple now joins a growing list of major corporations—including Amazon and Walmart—that have drawn criticism from the White House amid ongoing concerns over inflation and economic uncertainty tied to Trump’s tariff policies.

“I have long ago informed Tim Cook of Apple that I expect their iPhone’s that will be sold in the United States of America will be manufactured and built in the United States, not India, or anyplace else,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

He added, “If that is not the case, a Tariff of at least 25% must be paid by Apple to the US”

Apple, led by CEO Tim Cook, has been working to shift some iPhone production to India in response to tariffs imposed by the Trump administration on Chinese imports.

That strategy has become a continuing source of frustration for the US president, who again criticized Apple’s overseas manufacturing during a recent trip to the Middle East.
