Moscow Not Ruling Out Trump’s Meeting with North Korean Leader
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Russia does not rule out that US President-elect Donald Trump will hold a meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko said.
"Nothing can be excluded, particularly in the politics. Donald Trump, who met the North Korean leader in 2018-2019, may probably want to repeat his experience," the official told TASS in an interview.
The restart of the negotiating process between the United States and North Korea "on previous conditions appears problematic" in view of geopolitical changes in the Korean Peninsula and the world on the whole, the Russian diplomat said. "Furthermore, and this is probably the most important, prospects of the negotiating process depend not only and not just on the US desire, rather than on the principled position of North Korea on this issue," he added.
Trump and Kim Jong Un met three times before.
