Iran’s Export of Fishery Products Hits $187 Million in 5-Month Period
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The head of the Iran Fisheries Organization (IFO) said that more than 118,000 tons of fishery products, valued at $187 million, were exported from the country in the first five months of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21, 2024).
According to the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), the country’s export of fishery products registered a 43 and more than 33 percent growth in weight and value, respectively from March 21 to August 22, 2024, compared to the same period last year, Hossein Hosseini noted.
The deputy ministry of agriculture added that more than 42,302 tons of sea fish, valued at over $76.3 million, were exported from the country, showing about 59 and more than 66 percent growth in weight and value, respectively compared to the last year’s corresponding period, Mehr news agency reported.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Hosseini pointed to the export of caviar and stated that 2,328 kg of caviar were exported from the country in this period.
