Iran’s Acting President Arrives in Gilan to Inaugurate Rasht-Caspian Railway
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Rasht-Caspian Railway will be inaugurated on Thursday June 20 in a ceremony to be attended by Iran’s Acting President Mohammad Mokhber and Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mehrdad Bazrpash.
The inaugural ceremony will also be attended by Aide to the Russian President and the deputy prime minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan as well as ambassadors of several countries.
This railway route provides the rail connection between the capital of Gilan province to Bandar Anzali. The inauguration of the railway is of great significance in terms of trade and business exchanges with the regional countries and Europe.
The Rasht-Caspian Railway is considered to be the complementary ring of the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) and the important project is regarded as a linking bridge of the European countries with the Indian Ocean and the Persian Gulf.
The project will bring considerable benefits to Iran and regional transport networks.
The 37-kilometer Rasht-Caspian Railway completes the Qazvin-Rasht rail route and connects the city of Rasht to the Caspian Sea.
Located in the northern part of Iran, the primary purpose of the Rasht-Caspian Railway is to enhance connectivity to facilitate transportation and trade links between Iran and the Caspian Sea region northward and to the railway network southward. It provides a more efficient and cost-effective mode of transportation for freight and passengers.
