Iran, India to Launch Joint Shipping Company: Roads Minister
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mehrdad Bazrpash said a joint shipping company will be launched between Iran and India soon.
Speaking on the sidelines of the signing ceremony of a contract between the two countries for equipping and operating container terminals and general cargo at Shahid Beheshti Port of Chabahar, he said that various projects have been defined in line with the completion of the transport corridors.
Iran considers India as one of the largest economies in the world and attaches great importance to its relations with this country, he said.
The 58% growth of transit in the previous Iranian calendar year (ended March 19, 2024) is solid evidence of the resolve to promote the indicators in the transit sector and trading with the neighboring states during the current administration, he emphasized.
The roads minister pointed out that Chabahar is a shining gem in Iran’s coastal areas and can act as a focal point of transit, adding that the completion of the construction operation of the Chabahar-Zahedan Railway will add to the importance of this strategic port.
