Road Transit of Goods via Iran Up 54% in One Year: Statistics
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The statistics of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development indicated that 14.3 million tons of goods were transited from the country in the road sector in the previous Iranian calendar year (ended March 19, 2024), showing a 54% growth compared to a year earlier.
Of the 14.3 million tons of goods transited, 9.1 million and 5.2 million tons were related to non-oil and oil goods respectively, the ministry added.
The Shahid Rajaei Port and Parvizkhan Border Terminal accounted for the largest volumes of the incoming transit of goods in this period, amounting to four and three million tons respectively.
The report put the volume of products transited via Iranian land from March 21, 2022, to March 20, 2023, at 9.3 million tons, IRNA reported.
Upgrading the hardware and software infrastructures at the border terminals, following up and solving the existing problems, facilitating transit through holding joint road transport meetings with different countries with the priority of neighboring countries, and following the logistical approach within borders were among the most important measures conducted for promoting and facilitating the international transit and transportation, the report added.
