Iran’s Exports via Caspian Sea Up 20%: Official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s exports from the Caspian Sea have registered a 20% hike, the chief executive of Caspian Sea Shipping Company said, noting that the company is ready to export 30% of agricultural, horticultural and greenhouse products in the refrigerated form.

Kambiz Jahanbani said the company is determined to promote exports via the Caspian Sea with the support of the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRLSL).

Given the general policies of sea-based development and considering the reduced transportation cost via sea compared to land transportation, the company, if requested, is ready to export 30% of the agricultural, horticultural and greenhouse products of the northern provinces of Iran to the export destinations in the containerized form, he stated.

He went on to say that 2.5 million tons of various products, especially agricultural products, were exported from the country to the Caspian Sea littoral states in the 11 months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2023 to February 22, 2024), showing a 20% growth compared to last year's corresponding period.

Thirty percent of these products were agricultural horticultural and greenhouse products, he added.
