Problems related to the water shares in Aras were discussed in the first session of the Iran-Turkey Joint Water Cooperation Committee held in 2021 following a visit by Deputy Minister of Energy for Water and Wastewater Affairs Mohammad Javanbakht to neighboring Turkey.

After that, Iran’s minister of energy traveled to Ankara and it was decided that the second edition of Iran-Turkey Joint Water Cooperation Committee meeting will be held in Tehran.

It will be organized in Tehran on Sunday and will be co-chaired by Deputy Energy Minister for Water and Wastewater Affairs Javanbakht and Turkey’s Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Abu-Bakr Gisil Geider.

According to the scheduled program, the two sides will discuss bilateral ties and issues of mutual interests including determination of frameworks and necessary mechanisms for the development of joint water cooperation between the two countries.
