Palestinian Death Toll Climbs in Israeli Raids on West Bank, Gaza
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The death toll resulting from a series of Israeli raids across the occupied West Bank since October 7 now stands at 103, according to the Palestinian health ministry.
One of the recent casualties is Hamza Sayel Taha, a 19-year-old, who was fatally shot by Israeli forces on Wednesday morning following a raid in the northwestern city of Qalqilya.
Israeli forces also carried out a similar raid in the northern city of Jenin on Wednesday, resulting in the deaths of at least three young Palestinians.
Khaled Salam Fuqaha, another 19-year-old Palestinian, succumbed to severe injuries sustained during an Israeli raid in Tulkarem refugee camp a few days ago.
Three Palestinians were killed after clashes with Israeli forces during another night raid in Jenin, according to a medical source. Up to 20 people may have been injured in the incident in the northern occupied West Bank, during which the Israeli military conducted a drone strike.
Israeli forces have left Jenin, as reported by Al Jazeera’s Charles Stratford, although similar raids are ongoing in other parts of the West Bank.
On Wednesday, at least 16 people lost their lives, and several others were injured in the latest Israeli air strikes across Gaza.
The Ministry of Interior in Gaza reported that the Israeli raids hit residential areas in Jabalia and Tal al-Hawa in the north, al-Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, and Khan Younis in the south.
Reports of casualties in central Gaza’s Al-Maghazi refugee camp were also received by Al Jazeera. Air strikes and shelling were reported in Shujaiyah and Sheikh Radwan in northern Gaza. No further details on these Israeli bombardments are available right now.
Mohammad Abu Salmiya, the director general of Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, expressed his astonishment, saying he had never before witnessed the types of wounds and injuries occurring in the current conflict. In an interview with Al Jazeera, he suggested that these new injuries were likely due to Israel's use of "new deadly weapons" against the people of Gaza.
The death toll from Israeli air attacks in Gaza has now surpassed 5,790 in less than three weeks, according to the latest count from the Palestinian Ministry of Health, as Israel devastates large areas of the enclave.
