Hundreds of Palestinian Civilians Killed or Wounded in Israeli Air Raids in Gaza
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Hamas officials reported a devastating toll of Palestinian civilian casualties in the wake of Israeli air raids on Gaza over the past 24 hours.
At least 140 Palestinians have lost their lives in these attacks, with hundreds more left wounded.
The government's media office in Gaza issued a statement condemning the "massacres committed by the occupation (Israeli) raids," revealing that "more than 140 people were martyred."
Tragically, the violence continued as another 10 individuals were killed, and several others sustained injuries during the latest Israeli bombing in southern Gaza, as confirmed by the interior ministry. The strike targeted a house in Rafah.
In the northern part of Rafah, another district bore the brunt of Israeli airstrikes, resulting in the loss of at least 30 lives, including women and children.
Further Israeli air raids across the Gaza Strip on Monday and early Tuesday had severe casualties, with at least 110 people, including women and children, losing their lives, according to a medical source cited by Al Jazeera.
In the recent hours, reports surfaced of Israeli air strikes in various areas, including northern Gaza's al-Shati refugee camp, al-Balad in Jabaliya, and the al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza. Southern regions, Rafah and Khan Younis, were not spared.
The situation was dire in Khan Younis as well, where medical sources indicated that at least 23 people, including children, had lost their lives, and over 80 others were wounded. Many of the injured were taken to Al-Nasser Hospital.
Tragically, dozens more lost their lives in separate strikes on the al-Shati and al-Bureij refugee camps.
These horrifying events add to an already staggering death toll. Since October 7, Israeli attacks on Gaza have claimed the lives of at least 5,300 Palestinians.
The relentless Israeli bombardment has left the people of Gaza in a state of profound grief, as they struggle to cope with the loss of their loved ones. Palestinian journalist Maram Humaid aptly describes the current situation in her essay titled "No one is left to mourn in Gaza, as Israel's bombs deliver daily death." The people of Gaza now live with the "two biggest hopes" of staying alive and avoiding news of another devastating loss.
An Israeli army spokesperson, Daniel Hagari, claimed that Israel had targeted over 400 "targets," including mosques in the Gaza Strip over the past day. Hagari alleged that these mosques were being used as meeting places by Hamas.
Furthermore, Hagari stated that Israel had targeted Hamas' "operational headquarters" and claimed the elimination of three Hamas deputy commanders. He went on to specify that several Gaza neighborhoods, including Jabalia, had been attacked. Tragically, 30 people, primarily women and children, perished in the bombing of Gaza's Jabalia refugee camp, as reported by the civil defense unit.
The situation in Gaza remains dire, with the international community just watching events unfold.
