Iranian Army Ready for Collaboration with Oman
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Army Ground Force is prepared to work and share experiences with the armed forces of the Sultanate of Oman, a ranking commander said.
In a meeting with Commander of the Royal Army of Oman Major General Matar bin Salim al Balushi, held in Muscat, Iranian Army Ground Force Commander Brigadier General Kiomars Heidari called for closer cooperation between the military forces of the two countries.
Highlighting the religious, cultural and historical commonalities between the two nations, General Heidari expressed the Iranian Army’s readiness for cooperation with Oman in various fields, such as training and technical and operational programs.
He noted that the Iranian Army has gained invaluable experiences during eight years of war in the 1980s and numerous operations afterwards, saying Iran is prepared to share those experiences with Oman.
The ranking commander, who is accompanying Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri during a visit to Muscat, also paid a visit to the military college of Oman.
Iran and Oman have held several joint naval drills in recent years.
In April 2019, high-ranking military officials from the two neighbors signed a memorandum of understanding to boost cooperation in various military spheres.
